Stop the press, y’all! We’re proud to say that on November 30th 2023, Doc Brown Farm & Distillers received extensive coverage in The Newnan Times-Herald right here in Georgia. We’re blown away by their thorough, in-depth article.

In her feature, Shannon Poteet provides a full overview of how we got started, our cherished beliefs and what we’re doing down here on the farm with our Jimmy Red Corn.

As the piece points out, it started as a happy accident and now we’re a Georgia business on a mission. One day Daniel said, “Mom, why don’t you grow corn on y’all’s farm? We can distill it and make some family bourbon?” So we took the plunge.

Our sustainable, traditional approach to farming; seed-to-still distilling; our roots on the land; our High Heels and Cornfields motto. Shannon has captured it all in wonderfully concise prose and she’s also mentioned our recent awards.

Huge gratitude to Shannon and the editorial team down Highway 16 at The Times-Herald. It’s an honor to appear in this esteemed and long-running publication, which is also our local newspaper.

Bourbon Cream wins big with Garden & Gun

Garden & Gun December 2023 front cover

We are over the moon. We couldn’t have dreamed it. Not only does our Bourbon Cream Liqueur appear in the December 2023 to January 2024 issue of Garden & Gun magazine, but we’ve won an award!

In the Drink category of Garden & Gun’s 2023 Made in the South Awards, Butter Pecan Bourbon Cream Liqueur by Doc Brown Farm & Distillers was named a runner-up. Along with the award, the magazine wrote a piece that describes how we work the farm, grow our heirloom Jimmy Red Corn, distill the grain and extract the deep natural flavors that make our Bourbon Cream a winner.

It’s almost unprecedented for a start-up like ours to win an award like this in the first year after releasing a spirit. For many, getting it right can take up to a decade and there is so much competition.

This is amazing news for us and we are so grateful to the Garden & Gun editorial team and judges – not to mention all our customers out there who have put our little farm and distillery on the map. THANK YOU!

Read about it on the Garden & Gun website.

DBF in the Media: Bourbon Cream’s beautiful labels

Something people always comment on is the quality of our bottle and label design, and our Bourbon Cream Liqueurs have been receiving recognition for this around the world.

All our branding and graphics are created by Ginger Monkey Design, run by Tom Lane. The smoothly flowing, handcrafted lettering Tom drew for the Bourbon Cream label not only catches the eye, but it captures the essence of the product. Sweet, elegant and delectable!

There’s a whole lot more going on too, using imagery and words to convey what the product is and what we value as farmers and distillers.

The design work that went into our packaging has been featured by both spirits industry and graphic design outlets. These include:

The Craft Spirits magazine website – run by the American Craft Spirits Association.

BevNet – a leading publication that covers the drinks industry globally.

Packaging of the World – a website that highlights the best packaging design projects from around the world.

Salted Caramel Bourbon Cream – perfect for the holidays!

Now the nights are drawing in, Doc Brown Farm & Distillers brings you some sweet Georgia cheer in a bottle.

Our brand-new Salted Caramel will be the perfect aperitif for Thanksgiving and waaaayyyy better than a cookie for Santa at Christmas. Made with farm fresh dairy cream, it’s creamy without being too heavy, has that ooey gooey caramel sweetness, a dash of salt to release that creamy sweetness, plus the fire-side warmth of Doc Brown’s bourbon.

Nothing is quite as satisfying as a good liqueur on a fall or winter evening, and Salted Caramel Bourbon Cream is perfect over ice, or stirred into a hot beverage.

Your favorite ice cream in a glass

People who’ve tasted Salted Caramel Bourbon Cream have described it as ‘so good!’ and ‘like your favorite ice cream in a glass!’ We won’t argue with those descriptions, but we do invite you to see for yourself. Let us know what you think.

This is the fourth Bourbon Cream flavor we’ve released, and it will sit alongside Butter Pecan, Coffee and Peppermint Mocha on the shelf. It sells for $34.99 a bottle, at 39 Proof (19.5% ABV).

Our first three Bourbon Creams sold out when we first released them, and we think Salted Caramel is so good that soon it will be in short supply as well. You can order a bottle today in the Buy & Ship Spirits section of our website.

Gold medals for Bourbon Creams

Peppermint Mocha and Butter Pecan Bourbon Cream Liqueurs with gold medals

Pinch us! Is this real? Doc Brown Farm & Distillers has just won two gold medals at the ninth annual Georgia Trustees Wine & Spirits Competition.

These are the first medals we’ve won since setting up the farm and they were awarded to our Butter Pecan and Peppermint Mocha Bourbon Cream liqueurs in the Distilled and Specialty Spirits category.

We’re delighted to receive these awards – as chosen by the competition’s panel of judges, which includes trained experts in wine tasting alongside spirits specialists.

Here at Doc Brown, we take pride in farming our little corner of Georgia and we strive to use ingredients from this state and work with local businesses in everything we do. So, it’s extra special to be recognized here in our home state by a competition dedicated to Georgia’s wine, mead, cider and spirit producers.

Inspired!

But now that we have a laurel, we’re not going to rest on it, oh no. These medals have inspired us to carry on with our mission to make the finest farm fresh bourbon, from seed to still, using the heritage Jimmy Red Corn we grow here in Senoia, GA.

Now that our first batch of bourbons – Effie Jewel and Uncle Bogue – have been released, the Georgia Trustees Wine & Spirits Competition will be first on our list to enter next year. We can’t wait to see what the judges will think of these charred oak-aged Georgia whiskeys.

We’d like to send out a big thank you to everyone involved in running the competition and also to y’all who have supported our business since it was just the kernel of an idea waiting to be planted. God bless.
